WHO WE ARE

AYA is derived from an Akan dialect from a fern plant, and a popular Adinkra symbol in Ghana, Africa which means endurance, tolerance, and willpower. The fern plant is known to resist harsh whether conditions. With a name as unique as this we serve you with our raw Shea Butter from the roots of hardworking women from the Northern part of Ghana made with careful hands and love. AYA Shea Butter is made from 100% unrefined shea to help endure all skin types resulting in a clear, smooth skin leaving you to feel more beautiful in your skin. 

As SDG’s advocates, it’s our right to help promote good heath, and well-being for our Aya Shea Consumers as well as help improve decent work and economic growth for our people as well.

Growing up in a Ghanaian community, I learnt to appreciate every little thing that comes with life. (Ups & downs, the struggle & success). I have always wanted to help make the world a more comfortable place in my own little way. As a philanthropist and an SDG’s advocate, it has been my wish to accomplish these two goals of the sustainable development goals that are PROMOTING GOOD HEALTH AND WELL BEING, and DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH. With people complimenting my beautiful skin tone,  I came to a conclusion of sharing my little secret (SHEA BUTTER). My mission of starting my own business and (at the same time impacting the lives of people), in my own little way was quite tough but with the push I got from my loving husband had me set the ball rolling. As a believer of women empowerment, my interest grew in establishing a business where consumers benefit from good health & well being, as well as having a decent work and economic growth. We couldn’t have achieved it all without our workers in Duusi Tindongo, Upper East of Ghana; these women work so hard with the aim of bringing the best out of AYA SHEA ESSENTIALS.

With our beautiful bond, love and respect we leave no one behind because we at AYA are one-of-a-kind.

CHARITY

SDG’S GOALS:

 1.DECENT WORK & ECONOMIC GROWTH- Our first goal is to promote decent work and economic growth in our community. We are located in Talensi District in the Upper East Region of Ghana. We work with both women and teenage mothers. It is our goal to promote more job creation through vocational training for these women and teenage mothers. A portion of these girls are unemployed, lack some form of education or training. We develop certain training sessions for these girls that can help them back on track when all hope is lost.

 GOOD HEALTH & WELL-BEING- We also consider reduction of the number of illnesses from hazardous chemicals, air, water, soil production and contamination by using 100 % pollution free ingredients and items for our products, and also for the health of our consumers.

TALENSI COMMUNITY:

As believers of women and girl empowerment, we provide some form of help for the teenage mothers in the community. We take them through training sessions for their vocational benefits. The girls are educated on the importance of family planning, and are covered to help improve their health matters. Their children are also funded to go back to school. These girls are in the range of 13-20 years. They drop out of school at their first pregnancy, and because of little or no funding they do not continue with their education. Also, they cannot handle the pressure and the “stigma” from the community.  It is our duty as a company to give back to our family because we leave no one behind.
